Please ignore the "unhelpful" rating given to my review by Turtle Beach employees.
When running the driver CD-ROM, no multi-media player is installed, so that means no file types are associated with their software. There is no media library. There is no CD or DVD burning software installed, either.
This is just a bare-bones sound card, folks. That's it and nothing else.
So what DO you get? Dolby Digital Live (DDL) 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound. This is a great feature if you have multi-channel speakers. If you don't, this product is a waste of your money.
Regardless of what audio hardware a buyer may or may not have, I still think it's a waste of money, anyway. For a little more cash here at Amazon, everything this card has plus a whole lot more--including Dolby Digital Live--is available from any Creative Labs Titanium-series board. (And I'm not a Creative Labs employee.)

I bought this sound card because the Creative card I previously bought had problems with the driver. So, this Turtle Beach card had all the features I wanted, especially the optical in. I had recently bought a set of Edifier speakers that are 2.1 and it is hard to find a card that supports 2.1. This one works great, just a little tweaking with the settings, and my music sounds spectacular.

I just wanted to point out that Turtle Beach has finally released drivers for 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Vista, which support Montego DDL. They are all available as a free download in the Support area of Turtle Beach's web site. So this sound card now can have a new life in your upgraded or newly built 64-bit desktop.

I'm looking for a DDL card and all of the "no win 7 64" drivers were making this one a deal breaker. However, as of May 2010, drivers are available from Turtle Beach. I might have to snag this one up after payday :)
I just wish it had a wavetable header... but all things must pass, I suppose...

Make sure you use the drivers for the specific chipset. You can do the research and find out the best one. I used the drivers for the HT Omega Striker (which sells for ALOT more) and it works fantastic. Turtle bay dosent even have drivers for windows 7, but big deal, go get it off another website and save 70 bucks. As far as quality goes, it sounds fantastic. Noticeably better than motherboard, but since im not an audiophile i cant comment too much.
